Batelco backs soccer for journalists

BATELCO will sponsor the fourth edition of the Journalists Seven-A-Side Soccer Championship, scheduled for September 16 at the Batelco Staff Centre grounds in Al Hamala.

Six teams, representing different Arabic newspapers in Bahrain - Akhbar Al Khaleej, Al Ayam, Al Wasat, Al Watan, Al Waqt and Al Belad - are taking part in this event to be organised or the fourth consecutive time during Ramadan.

AFCB merchandise available next week

AFC Bournemouth’s club shop is expected to open next week, according to a statement released by AFC Bournemouth Chief Executive Alastair Saverimutto.

The football club shop has been closed since the end of last season, during administration all ties with Bourne Red, the previous manufacturers were broken and a new sponsorship deal was signed with Sports retailer JD Sports.

THE chairmanship of the Namibia Premier League (NPL) has over the years been a bone of contention among many candidates, but so far, the many who have occupied left nothing to be celebrated.

It goes without saying that over the years, there were always problems with the start of the league because of unresolved disciplinary cases, teams continuously cry foul at being marginalised in terms of finances to run their affairs and to honour their league obligations.

Teams over the years have also failed to land substantial amounts of money to sustain themselves through credible sponsorships because of the general stingy attitude shown by Namibia’s corporate world.
