Boylesports links up with Aston Villa Football Club

Boylesports, the Irish betting firm, is to become the official betting partner of Aston Villa, extending its reach into the Premier League in England.

‘‘We will become the official online gaming partner of Aston Villa,” Mark Noonan, head of marketing with Boylesports, told The Sunday Business Post. ‘‘This will help continue our focus on building our British profile.

‘‘We will have coverage on their website and will have input into the editorial aspect of the website. We will also have LED signage in the stadium, which will promote Boylesports.”

Eircom refutes reports over League sponsorship

Eircom is not quitting its sponsorship of the League of Ireland this year, in spite of widely reported claims to the contrary. The company has firmly denied it is about to end their sponsorship of the Eircom League and called reports to that effect “calculated”.

Bok to the future

IT’S 36 years since I first watched Australian football on the world stage: an end-of-season romp in London. 

I’ve since accompanied the game on visits to Ireland, Canada, the United States, Japan, South Africa and the Middle East.

Seen it played on ovals, rectangular fields and even baseball parks in Yokohama.

As much as I have cherished the notion of football Australian-style gaining an international profile, my gut feel always has been the thought was nothing more than fanciful.
